Brasserie Mediterranea. The best of Italian cuisine in a casual atmosphere.

In the realm of Milanese gastronomy, some restaurants hold a special place in our hearts. Brasserie Mediterranea is one of them.

Dear friends, while my recent visits have become less frequent as I am always in search of new culinary adventures, it is imperative that you become acquainted with this remarkable restaurant.

A Haven of Tradition and Accessibility

For years, Mediterranea has graced our lives with its enduring presence. It has become a reliable destination, one that I visit regularly without fail. Here, the allure lies not in the need for ostentatious attire or an elusive reservation. On the contrary, it welcomes you with open arms, ready to serve delectable cuisine in an unpretentious atmosphere. Admittedly, the interior and lighting may not be ideal for capturing Instagram-worthy photos, but that is a small sacrifice for the flavors that await.

A Seafood Lover’s Paradise

When it comes to seafood, Brasserie Mediterranea effortlessly secures a spot in my personal list of culinary delights. It is here that I have discovered the epitome of indulgence — a risotto adorned with delicate white mushrooms, and funghi trifolati, sliced and fried in the pan mushrooms. And prepare your taste buds for tuna tartare, raw shrimps, and catalana salad.

Exquisite Explorations Beyond the Sea

While seafood reigns supreme, Mediterranea also unveils a world of carnivorous indulgence. On my most recent visit, I embarked on a journey of flavors, savoring the octopus paired with salicornia, a type of seaweed, and the sogliola fish, accompanied by artichokes. The experience was nothing short of extraordinary.

Meat Tartare Triumph

Yet, one dish stands head and shoulders above the rest — the meat tartare. Prepared with meticulous attention in front of you, the high-quality minced meat is combined with egg yolk, alcohol, spices, and other little secrets. The result is a generous portion that commands attention and is best enjoyed as a main course. It comes as no surprise that many of my friends come to Mediterranea solely for this sublime delicacy.

Service and Prices

The staff’s warm hospitality and attentiveness contribute to the overall enjoyment of the meal. Moreover, the prices here remain within reason, with an average of 60-70 euros per person, including wine.

A Seasonal Secret

Allow me to tell you the unsider’s secret — the white truffle season at Brasserie Mediterranea is an event not to be missed. While I shall regale you with the details of their signature dishes and personal favorites closer to the time, remember that this is your cue to embark on a tartufo-infused adventure.

However, do note that the simple ambiance and bright lighting may not suit everyone’s taste, making it a recommendation best reserved for those who trust and share my own restaurant taste.
